Wall Street advances ahead of Yellen's first speech

FXStreet (San Francisco) - The US stocks market recovered from earlier losses and closed higher for third straight day as investors are focusing on Janet Yellen's testimony before the US House of Representatives on Tuesday. No major fundamental data was release on Monday.

The Dow Jones advanced 7.71 points or 0.05% to end the day at 15,801.79; the S&P 500 added 2.82 pts or 0.16% to 1,799.84; and the Nasdaq Composite won 22.31 pts or 0.54% to 4,148.17.

Ian Gordon, FX Strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch noted the surprises that came from the Nonfarm Payrolls report across markets. Still expecting a pick up in Q2 2014.
