Flash: 'No taper' headline warrant USD selling follow through - RBS

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - After the ‘no taper yet’ headline, which took the majority of market participants by surprise, in view of David Simmonds, Head of Currency Strategy at RBS, "there is a very good case for “go-with” current momentum short term."

As Simmonds adds: "In the immediate term, a weaker US dollar may well be one of the key themes, along with a rebound for many of the emerging market currencies most heavily sold during the worst of the tapering nervousness."

USD/JPY churning below 99.52 resistance for third session

The USD/JPY rebounded sharply beginning mid-week last week but still has yet to eclipse the 9/12 close of 99.52.

Flash: Consensus for further gain in China HSBC PMI - Westpac

As noted by FX Strategit at Westpac, Sean Callow, the regional data highlight is the ‘flash’ Sep reading on the China manufacturing PMI from HSBC/Markit at 1:45 GMT. "August was unexpectedly strong, jumping to 50.1 from 47.7m with consensus is for a further decent gain, to 50.9 from 50.1" Callow said.
